Yuu Watase's Arata: The Legend Manga to Resume in July

posted on by Jennifer Sherman
Mythical fantasy has been on hiatus since February 2014

Manga creator reported earlier this month that the return date had been decided.

Watase said that she had hoped to publish two new chapters simultaneously. However, simultaneous publication will be impossible due to "page circumstances." The manga will again serialize weekly, and the magazine will publish the second new chapter the following week.

Watase announced last July that she was revealed that it was delayed until 2015. She said on April 25 that she was now aiming to resume the manga in June.

The manga has been on hiatus in Weekly Shonen Sunday magazine since February 2014. Watase aims to release the 24th regular volume of the manga this summer. Watase is also working on the "Remaster" edition of the manga, and the fifth volume of that reprint shipped in January. She is now aiming to publish the sixth Remaster volume in July.

Viz Media describes the manga's story:

In a mythical world where humans and gods co-exist, Arata has the unfortunate honor of being the successor to the matriarchal Hime Clan. This means he has to pretend to be a girl or face death if his true gender is discovered! On the day of his inauguration, an assassination plot forces him to flee - and he somehow winds up in modern-day Japan! Meanwhile, a boy named Arata Hinohara gets sucked into the first Arata's world and finds himself dealing with people after his life!

The manga received a 12-episode anime streamed the series as it aired.

Watase published several Fushigi Yûgi: Genbu Kaiden manga spinoff in February 2013 after nearly 10 years of serialization.
