posted on by Jennifer Sherman
The Blu-ray Disc box release of the first K-ON! television anime series will include English subtitles. The set celebrates the fifth anniversary of the series' television broadcast debut and is slated to ship in Japan on March 5, 2014.
The 5-disc set includes the two clean opening animation sequences, the clean ending animation sequence, all seven "Ura-ON!" episodes, an interview with Aki Toyosaki, a collection of commercials, and a new "Radi-ON!" special audio CD. The anime itself, the "Ura-ON!" episodes, and the Toyosaki interview will all have English subtitles. The box will retail for 27,300 yen ($267).
The box bundles a special booklet with summaries of every episode, character designs, background art, and cast and staff messages. Other bonus items are a set of nine postcards (two key visuals and the jacket art from the seven home video volumes) and a perpetual calendar. The box set also features the previously released audio commentaries and a new audio commentary from director Ayana Taketatsu.
The adaptation of Sentai Filmworks released the second series and film.
