Auteur director Kono Danshi, Uchū-jin to Tatakaemasu. (That Boy Can Fight the Aliens.) A website launched for the OAD on Friday.
21-year-old Yamamoto was inspired to work in anime from watching Voices of a Distant Star when she was a 15-year-old in middle school. Not coincidentally, CoMix Wave Films released many of Shinkai's works.
The anime's website describes Kono Danshi, Uchū-jin to Tatakaemasu. as a "pitiful and beautiful adolescent story." Aliens suddenly invade the world, and a boy named Kakashi stands alone with the power to fight back against the aliens — except he lost his memories.
The anime stars Umineko no Naku Koro ni), whom Yamamoto requested personally to work on the project. CoMix Wave Films will release the DVD in November.
Animate is hosting a special point card campaign starting on September 20 for the anime. Three campaign participants will be chosen via lottery to receive a script autographed by the three main voice actors.
